How to Crown Yourself: Simple Ways to Boost Your Self-Worth Every Day

Let’s face it: there are days when we feel like our self-worth could use a little pick-me-up. Whether it’s because life feels heavy or we’re just having one of those days where we question ourselves, it’s all too easy to forget how amazing we really are. But here’s the secret: self-worth isn’t something you earn, it’s something you choose to embrace every single day.

Now, I’m not talking about the kind of self-worth that’s based on achievements or how many compliments you get. I’m talking about the deep, unwavering recognition that you are valuable and worthy simply because you exist. It’s the kind of self-worth that’s as timeless as a tiara. You know, the one you deserve to wear every day.

So, how do you crown yourself with that confidence, even when you’re feeling a little less than royal? Here are five simple, tiara-inspired ways to boost your self-worth each day and embrace your inner royalty.

1. Start Your Day with Gratitude (A Royal Mindset)

The foundation of every royal day begins with gratitude. Think of it as your morning routine, but instead of coffee (though I’m all for that too!), you start by reflecting on what you’re grateful for. This simple habit can change your mindset from “I have to” to “I get to,” shifting your entire outlook on life.

Each morning, take a few minutes to reflect on three things you’re thankful for. It doesn’t have to be anything grand; maybe it’s your favorite cozy blanket, a hot cup of tea, or even the sunshine peeking through the window. Focusing on gratitude brings a sense of abundance, reminding you that there’s more to life than what feels heavy at the moment.

I’ve noticed that when I start my day with gratitude, I’m more likely to recognize the little things that make me feel special, like how I feel when I wear a tiara, or how I embrace my quirks and individuality without apology.

2. Give Yourself Permission to Shine (It’s Your Time to Sparkle)

Every queen has her moment to shine, and guess what? So do you. Too often, we wait for others to give us permission to shine or validate our worth. We think that if we’re not constantly striving for perfection, we’re somehow less deserving of confidence.

But here’s the truth: You don’t need anyone’s permission to let your light shine. Whether it’s by wearing that sparkly accessory just because it makes you happy, speaking up in a meeting, or simply doing something you enjoy, embrace the opportunity to sparkle.

One of my favorite ways to do this is by celebrating small wins, no matter how minor they might seem. Maybe I finally organized a drawer I’ve been avoiding or wrote a blog post I’m proud of. Instead of brushing it off, I take a moment to acknowledge it. In those moments, I’m reminding myself that I’m worthy of celebrating.

It’s not about perfection, it’s about acknowledging that, just like a tiara, you are a symbol of grace, confidence, and uniqueness.

3. Embrace Your Unique Sparkle (Stop Comparing Yourself to Others)

Let’s be honest for a second: It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others. We scroll through social media and see everyone else’s highlight reel, and suddenly, we feel like we don’t measure up. But remember this: No two tiaras are the same. Yours is uniquely yours, and so is your journey.

I used to compare myself a lot. I’d see others doing things I thought I should be doing or achieving things I thought I should have accomplished by now. But here’s the thing: comparison steals joy. Instead of focusing on what others have or are doing, focus on what makes YOU unique.

For me, embracing my love for whimsical accessories like tiaras or quirky outfits is an act of confidence. I’m reminded that my personal style is a reflection of who I am, and that’s something to be proud of. Whether it’s your creativity, your sense of humor, or your talent for bringing people together, embrace what makes you stand out.

Stop hiding your sparkle. The world needs your individuality, and you deserve to shine in your own, one-of-a-kind way.

4. Set Boundaries Like a Queen (Protect Your Peace)

A crown is not only a symbol of power; it’s also a reminder of the importance of protecting your peace. Setting boundaries is one of the most powerful ways to take care of yourself and show that you value your time, energy, and well-being.

It’s okay to say no. In fact, it’s necessary. When you say yes to everything, you’re saying no to yourself. I’ve had to learn this the hard way. At first, I felt guilty for not saying yes to every invitation, request, or obligation. But over time, I realized that setting boundaries was an act of self-respect.

By protecting my time and my peace, I’m able to show up as my best self. I’ve learned to prioritize what truly matters and let go of what doesn’t. That’s how you protect your self-worth, by creating space for the things that nurture you.

After more than thirty years of putting everyone else’s needs above my own, I knew something had to change or I was going to snap. I had been that girl all through school, with either my nose in a book or a pen and notebook in hand, scribbling down endless stories. Usually fantasy with a strong romantic tone.

I’m not so much into world-building and fairies anymore, but I did start writing short stories and posting them online. Then, eventually, the stories got longer, with multiple chapters and subplots and character arcs.

It made me feel like me again. Kate. A whole person, not in relation to my husband, children, sisters, friends, coworkers. Just me.

And I loved that feeling. I still chase it by setting time aside most days to write a little (or edit a lot!). I don’t have any interest in publishing my stories or trying to earn money from them. It’s just a way for me to have fun and be creative.

5. Surround Yourself with Positivity (Your Royal Court)

No queen reigns alone. Even royals need a supportive court to cheer them on, and you deserve the same. Surrounding yourself with positive people who uplift and encourage you is one of the best ways to boost your self-worth. After all, you are the sum of the people you spend time with.

In addition to a supportive social circle, fill your life with positivity in other forms. Curate your environment to reflect your values. Fill your space with uplifting quotes, joyful art, and music that makes you feel like dancing.

I’ve found that when I surround myself with things that make me feel happy and at ease, I start to feel more confident in who I am. Whether it’s a playlist of feel-good songs or a collection of whimsical trinkets, these things serve as reminders that I am worthy of joy.

The Power of Little Daily Acts of Self-Love

Self-worth isn’t something you can just flip a switch to. It’s a journey that starts with small, everyday acts of self-love. It’s about celebrating who you are, recognizing your inherent value, and treating yourself with kindness.

So go ahead—crown yourself today. Whether it’s with a literal tiara or simply by embracing your inner confidence, you have every right to wear your crown proudly.

Remember: You don’t need to be perfect to be worthy. You just need to be YOU.
